124 crime victims remain in safe custody

The inspector general of prisons on Monday informed the High Court that 124 victims of different criminal activities remain in the safe custody in 29 jails across the country

Among the victims, 65 are male and 59 female, Ashraful Islam Khan said in a report submitted to a division bench comprising Justice AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik and Justice Sheikh Md Zakir Hossain

The prisons chief submitted the report in response to a direction issued by the court on June 10 this year asking for a list of people, women in particular, who are now in different types of custody across the country as victims of rape, abduction, acid throwing and any other criminal activities
