124 crime victims remain in safe custody
5 November 2010The inspector general of prisons on Monday informed the High Court that 124 victims of different criminal activities remain in the safe custody in 29 jails across the country
Among the victims, 65 are male and 59 female, Ashraful Islam Khan said in a report submitted to a division bench comprising Justice AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik and Justice Sheikh Md Zakir Hossain
The prisons chief submitted the report in response to a direction issued by the court on June 10 this year asking for a list of people, women in particular, who are now in different types of custody across the country as victims of rape, abduction, acid throwing and any other criminal activities
The court had passed the order following a writ petition filed by three Supreme Court lawyers -- Mahbub Shafique, KM Hafizul Alam and Imranul Hye Sajib -- on the basis of a June 4 report in the daily Jugantor. Don't wait until it's too late, find out more about home security safes.
